Windows 10 Redstone, revealing that Microsoft has gone from build 11102 to build 14251

The build number jump certain suggests so! Microsoft has been expectedly and usually quite regarding Windows 10 Redstone, the next major update for the operating system.

Which makes sense on some levels.

Considering the fact that the company is currently involved in fixing bugs and improving overall performance of the OS — meaning we will probably have to wait a little bit longer until new features and options are added to the platform.

Significant ones, that is to say.

But it appears that that moment is not far away now.

BuildFeed is suggesting a huge jump in version numbers for Windows 10 Redstone, revealing that Microsoft has gone from build 11102 to build 14251 recently, the former of which was released to the members of the Windows Insider Program not too long ago.

Although no new information as to what this jump brings in terms of features, it is believed that this significant version bump might bring more than simple bug fixes and performance improvements.

We may even be treated to one of the most anticipated features that Redstone is supposed to bring.

Support for browser extension for Microsoft Edge.

This has been in the making for a long time now, and we have already seen signs that Microsoft is working on it. Maybe the software titan is ready to provide Insiders with an early access to this important feature in a future update?

Let’s hope that we find out soon.

Redstone

What is Redstone? It’s the next big update to Windows 10 slated for release sometime in 2016.

Redstone is the second update coming for Windows 10 and is a larger update compared to Threshold 2. Redstone will be what Windows 8.1 was to Windows 8 essentially, bringing much needed changes and improvements to the feature-set and design of Windows 10. Redstone is scheduled to launch around a year after Windows 10 did, and is pretty much ‘next’ version of Windows.
